Getting serious. Deleting apps from our kindle. Facebook is the first to go.
It's a sunny Sunday afternoon, the kids are napping (yes on a Sunday! Hallelujah!), and I'm cleaning, well after blogging of course.
I used to say the main reason I used Facebook was to connect to family, but most of my family has stopped really using it. I also said if my sister-in-law ever stopped I would have no reason to continue. She has been off for months. So, it's time. I'm not shutting it down. Just staying off it more. I do want it for free advertising, messaging, and the occasional stalk. Not gonna lie about that. But the daily on and off. Done. I'm thinking use it more like email, and I don't check that all day unless I'm expecting something important. That really doesn't happen though. Who gets important emails? I get mostly junk, and occasionally messages from my mom. (Mom, your emails are very important to me.)
I deleted Zulily, ThredUp, Etsy, and a few others I didn't even use. No I don't shop a lot, just waste time. The only time waster I'm keeping is Pinterest, because I have already changed to using it mostly when I have a purpose and good reason, like actually making one of the recipes I pinned.
I'm bettering. Making changes. Trying to gain weight, which reminds me I need to find my scale. Being a better home maker. Being a better friend, etc. I've been beating myself up over things I don't like about myself, and well that accomplishes a whole lot of nothing.
Favorite line from a favorite Kendall Payne song, "Paper Skin", "Don't be yourself if you're not someone you like. There's hope for change in anyone's life."
So, I'm cleaning out. Spring cleaning. Eliminating distractions, breaking bad habits, making good ones, and finding joy in MY real, every day, right in front of me, life.
Small changes. Big effects.
I've been asking God to change my heart's desires to fit his will. Been seeking. And ya know what? I've been finding. Relying on Him to do the changing, and not on my own strength.
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13.
