Price Check

Okay, when looking at all this do it yourself stuff out there I'm forced to wonder if it's actually worth the price you put into buying the supplies if you don't already have them. I know for some people it's not about the price, but instead it's about the D.oing I.t Y.ourself part. Perhaps it's both . . . anyway

I thought I would take some of my favorite DIY projects from my "Too Many Ideas with Too Little Time" board and put a price on them. I'll do 3 for now . . .

Counting 13 up from the bottom based on height of the pin as I scrolled back up . . . (yes I did that)

This one is super easy. Buy extension rods and put in place. Pictured here are 6 rods, and based on Home Depot prices this project would cost you around $18. Or if you glued wooden dowels in there it could be more like $6 for the dowels and $2.50 for some wood glue, so $8.50. Just sayin'
Also, at Walmart you can buy pan organizers that start at 12.99. You decide if this one is worth it unless you have a plethora of extension rods around the house.  I do like this look better though. Hm, decisions.

With this project you grab a paint swab with gradient shades and then paint each drawer of a dresser the different shades (in order . . .). Okay so in the directions for this the recommendation was to ask for the paint samples. I had never heard of this, so I asked the ever so wise Google about it. I didn't look around much for price, because . . . well . . . Home Depot has everything. Paint samples there are $2.94 for 8oz. The dresser pictured here has 5 drawers so that's $14.70 pre-tax and in PA $15.58 with tax. Then again if you don't have a paint brush . . . $2 for that and if you need to sand the drawers first let's buy a 5 pack for $3.50. So we are at just over $20 for this project. Since you probably don't want to buy a new dresser painted for you, this one is probably really worth it! :)

This is too cute to not try. Here we go: jar - if you don't have one then someone would probably give you one or you could buy a pack for $15, glow sticks- $9.03 for 100 pack at Walmart, diamond glitter $3 at JoAnn's: So assuming you have to buy it all we're talking around $27, but you could make a lot of these, lol. Let's hope you have a jar and let's go to the dollar store for a couple glow sticks . . . now this project is more like $5. $5 for Fairies in a jar . . . it's like a million Tinker Bells in your hands! Yes please!!

1 2 3

That's all for now, but I'll do more later!
