Nursery Preparation and Visits to Doctors

This past weekend my family (mom, dad, and brother) came to visit. Well, actually, my grandparents stopped by last Thursday to drop off the crib with their van. Mom, dad, and Jamie came on Saturday. We assembled the crib and put all the bedding on it. My dad made the crib from solid oak. Some of the oak is from the Ding Dang (road I grew up on). He bent and cut EVERY piece. My mother made all the bedding, a valance, and pillow covers for decorative pillows in the nursery. The whole thing is soooo precious. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing family and an awesome heirloom. The crib is worth a couple thousand . . . no lie. It's stunning. We put the shelf and wall hanging up too. It's above the spare bed.

Speaking of spare bed. It isn't so spare right now. My friend Kristen has been staying with us. She moves out Saturday which marks 3 weeks since she came. She got a job her first week here and a signed a lease for her first apartment yesterday! Very exciting time for her and we couldn't be happier for her! She is WONDERFUL to live with. Seriously, the girl did so much for us these past few weeks. It was almost like having a live in maid. Only better :)

This past week was a big one for my mom. She had a heart cath on Monday to measure the pressure in her pulmonary artery. She has pulmonary hypertension, and it has now been determined that she is only in stage 2. This is fantabulous news, because we were expecting to be told stage 3. She has hypertension only when active (so not at rest) which means it's really too early for a prognosis. They are starting her on a medication soon, and hopefully that will prevent her symptoms from getting worse. We would love it if they got better too. :) No guarantee on what will happen once she starts the meds, but we are all hopeful (doctor included) that she will live a long life. He said most patients don't come in this early for treatment, which means there really isn't enough data on patients at this stage. No telling how long until it progresses to stage 3 or how meds will affect her life in the long run from this point out. Anywho . . . it was a good visit. She was prepared to stay 2 nights in the hospital, but they discharged her the same day! WIN! She says she is glad to have it behind her, because now she can focus on the baby.

Speaking of baby . . . I have selected a family doctor in the area . . . finally! It's a small family practice, and the doctors are very nice! I'm excited. I put this off for sooo long, because I was so used to my doctors in Wellsboro. My first visit was good, so here's to hoping they take good care of us.

OB on Friday, and I'll start going there weekly until little one decides to come.

Sigh. I should go to bed. Night all!
